Ubik Paper Redux December 3, 2007

I completed the first draft of my final, publishable version of “The Image of Women in Ubik.” I discussed Ella Runciter in my presentation version, and I expanded the paper to include Wendy Wright and Pat Conley. I think it reads pretty well, but I’ll look at Professor Clewell’s remarks on my oral presentation before I close the books on it.
I got some much needed telephone calls from my buddy Mike in Atlanta, and my good friend Jean in Nova Scotia, late of Liverpool, late of Ontario. Mike, Diana, and little Douglas are doing well, and Jean is learning to be a better carpenter/electrician/plumber than I’ll ever be. Oh, and the other day I received Sunshine’s annual punning Christmas card. I don’t want to give away anything for our other friends, but let’s just say that the Wachowski Brothers should have done a Matrix style slow-mo capture of my eyes rolling.
On to postcolonialism and semeiotics papers before bedtime…
Ooooooh, these sound really interesting. I want to read them! I’m also studying science fiction and postcolonialism. I’ll be attending the University of Florida in about a month.
Hi Shaun, Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I hope that you have fun at the University of Florida. If you’re interested in studying SF, you should check out the Science Fiction Research Association at http://www.sfra.org/
